Assisted Transportation in the West Kootenays.
Groceries, the pharmacy, the bank, the hairdresser, lunch with a friend, the appointment across town. Your driver comes to the door, gives you an arm if you want one, and helps the bags back in at the other end.
Call and book your ride. You will know the fare before you agree to anything.
Wheelchair accessible vehicles are available if needed. Short notice is welcome.

Licensed by the BC Passenger Transportation Board. A West Kootenay base since 2025.
Standard and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Tell us which one you need when you book.
A transportation partner of the Province of British Columbia’s Travel Assistance Program (TAP BC).
Getting around
No need to wait for a family member.
Not driving any more does not mean not going. It means one phone call the day before.
Through the door
Your driver comes to the door, not the curb or parking lot. They give you an arm if you want one, carry your bags and see you in at the other end.
Your fare before you go
We quote your exact fare when you book, so there is no meter running and nothing to work out at the end of the trip.
Short notice is welcome
There is nothing to register for and nothing to set up in advance. Call us and we will tell you what we have.
Shopping, walkers and bags
The groceries go in the back and so does the walker, and your driver handles both at each end. Tell us what you are bringing when you book.
Accessible if you need it
Wheelchair accessible vehicles with rear entry ramps and certified securement, and standard vehicles for everyone else. Say which you need when you call.
Evenings, weekends and long days
Dinner with family, a service on Sunday, an appointment that finishes after the working day, and the trip home when you are tired.
The standing ride
Book the same time every week and stop making the call.
Grocery day. The pharmacy run. The standing appointment. The visit you make every Thursday. We hold the same slot for you each week, so there is no call to remember, no explaining your week again, and no wondering whether anyone is free.
Standing slots are limited by the number of vehicles at our West Kootenay base, so if you want a regular day, call and claim it.
On the day
What to expect
1
Your driver comes to the door
They knock, they wait, and they walk out with you. You are not managing the steps or the driveway on your own.
2
You travel in a vehicle that suits you
A standard vehicle, or a wheelchair accessible van with a ramp and certified securement. We confirm which one when you book.
3
We are there when you come out
Tell us roughly how long you will be when you book. If it runs over, call us and we will adjust the pickup.
4
Home, and the bags come in with you
The shopping does not get left on the step. Your driver helps it to the door, the same way it went out.

Our drivers are trained in mobility support and passenger assistance. They are not paramedics and we do not provide medical care. We carry passengers who are medically stable and travel seated or in their own mobility device.
Where we go
Around town, and well beyond it.
Errands and daily life
The grocery store, the pharmacy, the bank, the hairdresser, the hardware store, the library, church, the Legion, lunch, and family.
Appointments around home
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail and Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, plus clinics, the dentist, the optometrist, physiotherapy and day surgery.
Out of the valley
Kelowna, Kamloops, Cranbrook and Vancouver. Airports at Castlegar (YCG), Kelowna (YLW), Cranbrook (YXC) and Calgary (YYC), for a flight and not only for an appointment.

Travel Assistance Program
Out-of-town appointment?
NOW Shuttle is a transportation partner of the Province of British Columbia’s Travel Assistance Program, known as TAP BC. If your doctor is sending you out of the valley, this is worth a question before you book.
- Approved TAP travellers pay 33% less than the regular fare.
- An approved companion travels at no charge. The person who comes with you is covered.
- It applies when your doctor sends you out of town for specialist care not available in your community.
You need a completed TAP form from your referring doctor or nurse practitioner and a TAP confirmation number, and both have to be arranged before you travel rather than after. That is the most common reason people miss the discount, so ask at your next appointment.

Not ready to book?
Not sure if this is the right option for you? Give us a call. There is no charge, no deposit and no obligation, and you hang up knowing three things.
1
How the trip would work
Where you are going, when you need to be there, what you are bringing, and how the trip home is handled.
2
Your exact fare
Door to door, quoted on the call, so you can decide with a real number in front of you.
3
Whether a weekly slot is open
If this is a trip you make regularly, we will tell you which standing times we have at your end of the valley.
Before you book
Questions people ask
Do I need a medical reason to book?
No. Groceries, the bank, a haircut, lunch, a visit, a funeral, a flight. If you need to get somewhere, that is reason enough.
Can the driver wait while I shop?
Tell us when you book. We will look at the trip with you and work out whether it makes more sense to hold the vehicle or to come back for you, and either way you will know the fare before you go.
I use a walker. Can you help with it?
Yes. The walker travels with you and your driver handles it at both ends. Same with the shopping, the luggage and any equipment you are bringing.
What if I use a wheelchair or a scooter?
We have wheelchair accessible vehicles with rear entry ramps and certified securement for manual chairs, power chairs and scooters. Tell us the make and model when you call and we will confirm the fit before you book anything.
What does it cost?
It depends on the distance, the vehicle and the assistance you need, which is why we quote your exact fare when you book rather than publishing one number that would be wrong for most trips. There is no charge for asking.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Short notice is welcome and it is one of the main reasons people call us. Standing weekly rides are worth booking early, because those slots are limited.
Can someone come with me?
Yes. There is room for a family member, a friend or a support person. If you are approved under the Travel Assistance Program, an approved companion travels at no charge.
Do you drive in winter?
Yes. Our drivers are based here and drive the Kootenay and Salmo passes through the winter in vehicles maintained for these roads.
Do you provide medical care?
No. We are a non-emergency, non-clinical service. We carry passengers who are medically stable and travel seated or in their own mobility device. If you need a paramedic or a stretcher, tell us and we will point you to an operator who provides that.
I am arranging this for my mother or father. Can I book?
Yes. Call the same number. We will confirm the trip, the vehicle and the fare with you, and we will keep them in the conversation rather than talking around them.
Book your ride
Call and we will sort it out on the phone.
Someone picks up. Tell us where you need to go and when, and we will confirm your vehicle, your fare and your pickup time.
Prefer we call you? Leave your details below. Tell us your community, where you need to go, and whether this is a one off or a trip you make regularly, and we will call you back with your vehicle and your fare.
For a medical emergency, call 911. NOW Shuttle is a non-emergency service and does not provide medical care or monitoring.
